Yeah, this is why I've been so crazy and absent lately:

OCARINAS HOMG )
Dial up users beware. There are lots of pictures that I was too lazy to resize.

A Cobweb drawing. It's still in the sketchy stage, but I felt like sharing.

*Sigh* One of these days I'm going to remember that my paper is slightly larger than my scanner.

Warning to dial-up users--big files!

Because [livejournal.com profile] phyncke's elves asked for their portraits:
Fin and Aegnor )
*hee* Aegnor looks like a cross between Heath Ledger and Shakespeare's Puck.

And because it was [livejournal.com profile] luin77's birthday yesterday:
The Woodland King )
Here is Oropher meditating before doing some sort of ceremony that involves prancing around wearing antlers.

And because I missed [livejournal.com profile] jastaelf's birthday entirely:
Young! Thranduil )
This is young Thranduil at the same ceremony. Notice how he's trying his darnedest not to burst out laughing. It's ever so difficult to be an adolescent elf.;)

Going to pick up Larry at the train station in an hour! Yay!

(Edit--anybody else want one? [livejournal.com profile] stendhaliser, Maglor is on the way.)

The rest of the half-assed sketches from Saturday night. Warning--big files. I'm too lazy to resize.

This is what happens when there's no one around to chat with on Saturday night.

I stay up way too late sketching. )

More later if my scanner stops being incompetent.

Life is still busy, and suck-y, and yicky. Larry leaves for Michigan on Tuesday for two whole months. *gulp*
But arts are helpful when the grandma's house is quiet at night.
Mucha Aredhel )
This is another one for the artgrind challenge (one that I never got around to posting). I've no idea if the Tengwar is right. Possibly?
fairjennet: Text only. "In the beginning, there was nothing, which exploded." (facepalm)
Ah well.
Life is still being intensely annoying. Just one thing after another after another after another. Sheesh.

Anyway, some art (kind of)---------> right here )

Just cause.

I ought to have cleaned the apartment while I had the time. Instead, over the past couple of days I have,

1. joined a character challenge at [livejournal.com profile] artgrind, in which I must draw Ardhel once a day.

2. drawn and posted said drawings

3.posted an rp chat that I should have posted a week ago, but didn't because I'm full of
FAIL. (not so full of fail now that it's done)

and
4. re-read three books that weren't any good the first time I read them.

How's that for procrastinating?

Happy Valentine's day everyone! I hope your day is filled with love of all kinds. <3

Life is a busy whirl these days. New and interesting things happen all the time, many of which would be worth writing about here, but unfortunately I don‘t have the mental energy to type anything coherent. Funny that. I ramble along about nothing most of the year, and when I finally have something to say, something that might actually *gasp* start a discussion of some sort (or at the very least be mildly useful or interesting to someone), I just don’t have the time.

Still, there’s a few ideas for posts lurking around in the back of my head. Perhaps I'll get around to it in the future? Just so I don’t forget, here’s a list:

1. Fic recs of free online books and short stories (original fic, not fanfic)
2. Creative energy (soooo much to say about this, it seems to be the theme for this month)
3. Creative energy Part II--People are crazy, but artists are the worst
4. Learning to draw anime and other current projects

In other news, I’m still alive. Hi. I may not manage to get around to commenting much, but I’m still reading your posts. I even wrote a haiku about it:

Sendin out gude vibes
Just liek an lol cat
For whut its wurth. Yo.

(What? I never said I was a poet!) :P

Anyway, I hope to be around more soon. Miss you guys!
Much love,
Lori

Still bored, even though I got to play a new elf, mess with animation, and type at Jai and Jane. Now, I'm the only one left awake. I will never, never go to bed at midnight and then sleep till noon again. I feel so hyper I think I could run around the block a few times.

Instead, I'll think I'll just babble here. *grin*

So... I've been working like a mad thing all week long. In honor of St. Patrick's day, I carved lots and lots of Celtic knotwork designs on the ocarinas. I'm really proud of this one:

Lately I've been experimenting with anime. I've never been too terribly fond of that style of drawing--much too minimalist? unrealistic?--but I think its growing on me. There's so much expression in each little line.

It is much, much more difficult than it looks.

All of my fooling around has really helped me with carving human figures on the ocarinas. Human figures are HARD, no matter what style you represent them with, but there's something about anime that translates really well to the clay. I'm very happy with some mermaids I carved last week. You can't exactly call them anime, but there's certainly an influence.

I'm almost glad that the ocarina blew up in the firing. That means I get to keep my mermaids instead of selling them.
