Do I Like Anime?
Jun. 10th, 2006 11:47 pmLately I've been experimenting with anime. I've never been too terribly fond of that style of drawing--much too minimalist? unrealistic?--but I think its growing on me. There's so much expression in each little line.
It is much, much more difficult than it looks.
All of my fooling around has really helped me with carving human figures on the ocarinas. Human figures are HARD, no matter what style you represent them with, but there's something about anime that translates really well to the clay. I'm very happy with some mermaids I carved last week. You can't exactly call them anime, but there's certainly an influence.
( mermaids )
I'm almost glad that the ocarina blew up in the firing. That means I get to keep my mermaids instead of selling them.
