Whee! Christmas cards go out today. Ha! Told you I'd be lucky if they got there before Valentine's day.:P

And now, a quick Tolkien meme before I rush out to do the Christmas shopping.

1. How did you get involved in the fandom? What was your first place/haven within the fandom?
I got my first computer with internet access on the Christmas right after the first movie came out. My first Google search read, "Legolas Orlando Bloom." That lead me to the Council of Elrond website and then to the Legolasses thread where I squeed over pictures with a bunch of elf-obsessed housewives.

2. When did you first read Tolkien's writing?
I was 16 when my friend convinced me to read LOTR. Jason had a tough time persuading me. My dad had been trying to get me to read the books for years--they're the only ones he's ever read for pleasure, period--but watching the Bakshi cartoon every year at Thanksgiving made me think the books would be stupid beyond belief. Jason, however, jumped up and down, talked nothing but hobbits for weeks, and said "please, please, please, PLEASE!" I finally had to start reading in self defense.

3. What did you read first?
Fellowship first, then TTT and RotK, then The Hobbit--I didn't read the Sil until college.

4. When did you first see the movies?
The day after Christmas in 2001 (or 2002, whenever the first one came out). A movie ticket was all I wanted for Christmas.

5. How did you come to be involved where you are now in the fandom?
I drifted away from the Legolasses board after I discovered slash, then a bit of time on ff.net led me to Elves Unstructured Rpg. I joined after reading Claudio's Elladan's Biograph script for about the millionth time.

6. What was the first fanfic story you read?
Treehugger's Legolas stories. I still read those every couple of years.

7. What was the first fanfic story you wrote? Was it Tolkien centric, or another genre?
A story about Thranduil and a woman in Stone Age Ireland--an attempt to mix Tolkien elves, Celtic myths, and a family legend I ran across while researching the genealogy on my dad's side of the family. *cough*Marysue*cough* I gave up when I realized that writing is hard.

8. Name 3 of your favorite Tolkien characters. Why Do you like them?
Thranduil, just because. Aredhel, because she never ceases to surprise me with her complexity. Gildor, my first love.

9. What are 3 of your least favorite characters? Why?
Lindir, because of his sheep comment. Eowyn, because she makes me cringe when she crushes on Aragorn. That hit a little too close to home when I was 16. And uh...Sauron cause he's evil?

10. What genres do you like to read the most?
Eh, I dunno.

11. What Tolkien eras/cultures/events/ ect. do you feel you have the strongest knowledge in?
None of them.

12. What areas do you feel you can help other authors with?
Dude, I suck so hard that I'd be afraid to try to help anyone,

13. What do you feel are your weaknesses as a writer? What would you like to improve on?
Never finishing anything, thinking everything I write is stupid, editing everything to death, having no idea how to advance a plot, etc. etc. etc. I'd like to improve everything.

14. What Tolkien era/culture/events/etc. would you like to know more about?
The Nandor

15. What are you currently writing, what's your latest work in progress?
An expansion of my drabble, Thranduil sneezed. I've finished a chapter and a half. I may even finish more someday.

16. What is your favorite story you wrote? Why?
Thranduil sneezed, because it doesn't suck.

17. What is your least favorite story you wrote? Why?
There's too many to count. I guess the worst ones are pretty much everything I've written about Aredhel, minus the 100 word drabble things. Reading the longer stories makes me shudder with embarrassment. Also, everything I've tried to write about Saeros is terrible. I not only wrote stupid things, but then compounded that error by editing everything so much that it's all about as interesting as a grocery list made by a responsible person on a diet.

18. What do you hope to accomplish in your future in the fandom?
Finish a story that doesn't suck. Maybe draw some things? RP Saeros and Aredhel every once in a while.

Ah, procrastination is lovely.
Happy holidays!
