Spent most of Saturday away from home, which was such a relief. Not only did it get me out of the house for the first time in months, I also managed to avoid Dad and his girlfriend all day. Damn loopy people. They seem to be rehearsing for an appearance on the Montel Williams show or perhaps an episode of COPS, and I’m afraid if I stay here too much longer I might have to invest in a tube top and pair of dirty pink house slippers just to go with the whole trashy atmosphere. Why can’t they just talk like normal, grown up people?
Anyway, I took the kiddo to the Katy Rodeo parade in the morning, and then Dad let me borrow his truck to run some errands since our van is still in the shop. We went to the library, the grocery store, and Starbucks. Best day I’ve had in a long time, and how pitiful is that?
At least I got two new books to read--both fairly crappy, but anything will do in an emergency. (Internet time is limited, since Dad and GF like to use the phone line to scream at each other.) It rained during the parade, but kiddo got lots of necklaces and candy, so was very, very happy. He also got to hear the story of how I participated in the parade when I was a little girl (riding a horse, dressing up as a pioneer and riding in a wagon, marching in the band, and throwing candy for Fox Photo once when I had a summer job), which should have bored him to tears but seemed to fascinate him. Go figure.
